Flupentixol is a synthetic compound that acts on a subset of dopamine receptors. It specifically blocks D1 and D2 dopamine receptors (as well as seratonin). Flupenthixol decanoate ester is used as an intramuscular injection as a long-acting antipsychotic, lasting up to 4 weeks from a single injection.
