CEJA Report on Industry Funding of CME Needs More Study, Say AMA Delegates

An AAFP-supported report aimed at guiding physician-learners and CME providers in managing their relationships with industry got as far as being recommended for adoption by the 2009 AMA House of Delegates here. But in the end, delegates referred the report for more study, citing concerns that it needed added clarity and further refinement.
'2-for-1' EB CME to Sunset in 2011

Physician-learners, take note: The AAFP will end its award of "2-for-1" credit for its evidence-based CME, or EB CME, on Jan. 1, 2011. Meanwhile, the Academy is continuing to explore new opportunities for members to earn credits to meet continuing education requirements as part of its ongoing commitment to evidence-based education.

Just-released METRIC Module Tackles Depression

The Academy's performance improvement program known as METRIC, or Measuring, Evaluating and Translating Research Into Care, recently launched a new module on depression that will be of special interest to family physicians. Bruce Bagley, M.D., AAFP's medical director of quality improvement, said the latest module -- Depression: Improving Patient Care -- will help physicians organize their approach to treating patients with depression.
