The band got along very hard in the early years, recording two separate demoEPs which it then sent out to record companies. The band sent two to show the record companies that it was dedicated to its music and that the first EP wasn't a fluke. The band broke out in 2000 with its single "Stupify" and subsequent album The Sickness. The album launched the band into stardom. It also released a completely revamped cover version of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's theme music for the WWE, called "Glass Shatters." After participating in Ozzy Osbourne's Ozzfest tour in 2001, the band started the Music as a Weapon Tour.
Fuzz founded Disturbed in 1997 with guitarist Dan Donegan and Mike Wengren. He left the band in early 2003; as singer David Draiman puts it "when Kmak was in the band, Disturbed wasn't totally clicking — personally or musically". He was replaced with John Moyer.
